Annelise Becker
Artist Bio
My passion with art began at a young age-finger painting was my favorite activity in preschool. Throughout elementary school and middle school, I was always doodling in the margins of assignments, which gradually evolved into a deeper interest in visual storytelling. By high school, I began pursuing art more seriously, enrolling in AP Art during my sophomore year at San Juan High School. I later completed my diploma at San Clemente High School in 2021.
That same year I was accepted into the BFA program at Laguna College of Art and Design, where I currently major in Drawing and Painting with an emphasis in Illustration. In 2025, I was honored to receive the Plotkin Foundation Scholarship in recognition of my artistic growth and dedication.
I am expected to graduate with my BFA in December 2025. As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to refining my voice through both traditional techniques and contemporary perspectives.
Artist statement
My subject matter consists of illustration with fine arts. I enjoy using oil paint on various surfaces and using impasto has been very satisfying in the process of painting. My pallet consists of bright colors. I love scenery involving sunsets or sunsets. I'm fascinated by representing the smallest moment of time of time of day. The intent of my work is for my audience to sense the connection between the living and the dead. My work contains symbolism of life and death. I want to show that even though someone has passed, the connections is still present if we allow ourselves to be open to it and be comforted by it. My content will have aspects of otherworldly dimensions, almost like a fever dream. My goal is to push reality and physics away from my pieces and let the viewer step into a new conscience.
